2019 Cranksgiving

Cranksgiving started in New York City in 1999, and there are now nearly 100 independently organized events across the globe. (Really! Zoom out on the map and take a look!) The event has its roots in bike messenger alleycats, but there are no requirements other than "get food" and "do it on a bike". Read our FAQ for more details. HOW DOES IT WORK?

The format may change from location to location, but the general idea is to ride to a couple grocery stores, purchase specific food items, plot the quickest route to the finish line, and donate everything to your local charity. The idea started with bike messengers in New York City in 1999, but is now open to riders of any age & experience, anywhere in the world. Cranksgiving is a grassroots movement, and each event is produced locally. Contact the organizers listed in the map for details.

Cranksgiving donations will benefit a local charity in your area. Every year, Cranksgiving helps provide meals to thousands of families in over 80 cities, and you can help! Just bring a bike, a bag, a lock, and enough money to buy food.
